IBM Reinstates Student After Protest; Campus Still Closed

A student at the Institute of Business Management (IBM) has been reinstated after intense protests erupted on campus over her expulsion. The incident sparked widespread student outrage, leading to demonstrations demanding justice and transparency in administrative decisions.

According to reports, the student’s admission had been canceled earlier this week under unclear circumstances. The decision drew criticism from fellow students, who accused the university administration of acting unfairly and without due process.

Protesters gathered within the university premises, chanting slogans and refusing to attend classes until the expelled student was restored. They demanded that the administration ensure academic freedom and protect students’ rights from arbitrary actions.

Following hours of unrest and continuous negotiations, the IBM management finally reinstated the student, acknowledging the growing pressure from the student body. However, despite the reinstatement, the university remains closed for now due to security concerns and to prevent further escalation.

Students welcomed the decision but criticized the administration for handling the matter poorly. Many expressed concern over what they described as an increasing lack of communication between university officials and students. They urged the management to establish a fair grievance redressal system to address student issues before they spiral into protests.

Meanwhile, academic experts noted that such incidents highlight the importance of transparency and dialogue in higher education institutions. Prolonged closures not only disrupt academic schedules but also damage the university’s reputation.

The IBM administration has not yet announced when the campus will reopen, stating that a committee has been formed to review the events and suggest preventive measures. The university assured that student safety and academic integrity remain top priorities.

In related developments, the Punjab government has expanded its Hunarmand Jawan initiative, aimed at empowering young people with professional skills. The expansion of this program underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen youth participation and create opportunities beyond traditional academia.

As the IBM community waits for normalcy to return, students hope the incident serves as a reminder of the power of collective action and the need for institutional accountability.
