IBCC Halts Matric and Intermediate Certificate Checks Details

The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has temporarily suspended the verification of matriculation and intermediate certificates nationwide. The move comes after a cybersecurity advisory from the National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The notification stated that the verification and equivalence process for O and A Level certificates has also been paused. Several online verification services have been disabled as a precaution against potential cybersecurity threats.

This suspension has impacted thousands of students across Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Islamabad, who rely on verification services for academic admissions, scholarships, and other official purposes. Students planning to study abroad are also facing difficulties due to the temporary halt.

Officials emphasized that manual verification processes have already been discontinued. As a result, it is not possible to revert to the old system. To maintain security, the IBCC has placed its verification and equivalence portal in “read-only mode.” Existing users can log in to check the status of their applications, but new submissions are temporarily not being accepted.

The CERT advisory was issued following cyberattacks on several Pakistani television channels and government websites. Authorities warned that such attacks could compromise sensitive data and disrupt essential services.

IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah said the portal is being restored for users within Pakistan. However, overseas users will have limited read-only access until full cybersecurity measures are implemented.

Officials stressed that the suspension is a preventive measure to protect student data and ensure the integrity of verification and equivalence services. The IBCC is working to restore full functionality while maintaining strong cybersecurity protocols.
