Rescue Operation Launched as Heavy Snowfall Traps Vehicles in Tirah Valley

Rescue operations have been launched in Tirah Valley, Khyber district, after heavy rainfall and snowfall stranded nearly 100 vehicles on blocked roads. Severe weather conditions disrupted travel and trapped many people across different areas of the valley.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said significant snowfall hit the region, leaving several individuals stranded. He confirmed that rescue activities are underway and that he is personally supervising the operation on ground.

The chief minister stated that rescue work is challenging due to harsh weather, but heavy machinery is being used to clear roads. Trucks carrying food items and essential supplies have also been dispatched to affected areas.

KP Secretary Relief Sohail Khan said nearly 100 vehicles remain stranded, while 35 people have already been shifted to safer locations. Relief teams from Peshawar, Nowshera, Swabi, and Mardan have reached Tirah Valley.

More than 50 rescue personnel, 16 ambulances, and heavy machinery are part of the operation. Authorities have also sent 10 trucks loaded with blankets, sweaters, beds, and other relief goods.

The Pakistan Army has joined rescue efforts, helping families temporarily relocate and restoring traffic flow. PDMA confirmed roads remain blocked, while rescue teams continue evacuations and monitoring the situation closely.
