Pakistan roared back into the five-match T20I series against New Zealand as Hasan Nawaz made history, smashing the fastest T20I century by a Pakistani batter in just 44 balls. His explosive innings powered Pakistan to a commanding nine-wicket victory in the third T20I at Eden Park on Friday.

The young right-hander, who struggled with consecutive ducks in his first two games, staged a stunning comeback. Chasing a challenging 205-run target, Nawaz dismantled the Kiwi bowling attack, making the chase look effortless.

Mohammad Haris provided early momentum with a rapid 41 off 20 balls before Nawaz took charge, racing to a fifty and then a record-breaking hundred. Pakistan sealed the win in just 16 overs, keeping their series hopes alive.

Earlier, New Zealand posted 204 runs, driven by Mark Chapman’s blistering 94 off 44 balls. Despite their strong total, Pakistan’s bowling unit, led by Haris Rauf’s three key wickets, managed to turn the tide.

Reflecting on his turnaround, Hasan Nawaz credited his teammates for their support. “Getting out for ducks in the first two games was disappointing, but the captain and Shadab backed me, reminding me I was a match-winner. That belief lifted my confidence. I just wanted to get off the mark today, and once I did, the pressure faded.”
