Israeli soldiers discovered a tunnel shaft utilized by Hamas fighters near Gaza’s Al Shifa hospital, according to the army. Meanwhile, the United Nations expressed concern that aid would not be delivered to Palestinians on Friday through the Rafah crossing with Egypt, as reported by Reuters.
The army released a video purporting to show a tunnel entrance in an outdoor area of Al Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital. Reuters could not immediately verify the video, but it displayed a deep hole in the ground surrounded by concrete, wood rubble, and sand, suggesting excavation had taken place, with a bulldozer visible in the background.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh expressed confidence in victory and refuted the Israeli allegation of a “command center” beneath the hospital. Osama Hamdan, Hamas’s senior representative in Lebanon, presented footage in Beirut that countered the claim.
The footage revealed that the Israeli forces had been transporting seized weapons into Al-Shifa Hospital, falsely asserting they were found there. The weapons were concealed in cardboard boxes labeled as food aid.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken conveyed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there should be no reoccupation of Gaza by Israel. However, he acknowledged the possibility of a transitional period where security is provided for Gaza.
Blinken emphasized the importance of Palestinian governance and security for the future of Gaza, stating that lasting peace requires political rights for Palestinians and their ability to govern themselves in their own state.
