According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, the holidays will begin on Friday, April 21, and will last until Tuesday, April 25.

The committee’s meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 20, in order to sight the Shawwal moon, according to the council’s Secretary-General, Khalid Ijaz Mufti.

If the crescent is visible on Thursday evening, Eidul Fitr will fall on Friday, April 21. However, he added that seeing the moon on the same evening was unlikely.

He stated that Eid will most likely be celebrated on April 22 after the completion of the holy month of Ramazan’s 30 fasting days.

According to the council, the moon will be born on Thursday, April 20, at 9:13 a.m. Pakistan time. The moon’s age at sunset on the evening of Ramazan 29th should be more than 19 hours for sighting. However, it will be less than 10 hours in all areas of Pakistan, it added

According to the report, the time difference between sunset and moonset will be 21 minutes in Peshawar, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Charsadda, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Quetta, and Jiwani, and 20 minutes in Lahore and Karachi.

Eidul Fitr marks the end of Ramazan, the holy month in which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. Traditionally, the festival is marked by prayers, family gatherings, and feasting.

The sighting of the crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal, determines the exact date of Eidul Fitar.
