Government to Build Up to $14 Billion Oil Refinery: Minister

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]According to Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Malik, the establishment of an oil refinery in Pakistan, which might cost up to $14 billion, has received the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The new refinery will cost between $10 billion and $14 billion, according to the minister, who spoke at a press conference following the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE) meeting. The investment package and policy in this respect have also been agreed.

He said that the government had struck a deal with Russia and that the public would be relieved to shortly receive the first cargo of Russian crude. He continued by saying that the Russian crude will also aid in easing the nation’s energy problem.

The minister added that the government has also decided to stop providing gas to power plants and start distributing it to low-income people instead. He said, “We will give cheap petrol to the poor and take cheap petrol back from the rich.”

Malik added that a comprehensive energy conservation policy that will benefit the nation in energy conservation was also agreed during the CCoE meeting.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
