The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has introduced a new Fingerprint Verification system for passport applicants. The system aims to make identity confirmation faster, more secure, and accessible from anywhere.
Applicants can now verify their fingerprints through the NADRA Pak-ID mobile app at any time and from any location. If a user encounters difficulty with fingerprint scanning, the app provides a facial recognition option as an alternative.
To begin, applicants must visit the online passport web portal. At the fingerprint verification stage, they are required to log in to the Pak-ID mobile app. Within the app, users should access the biometric verification section, select “Online Passport,” and enter their passport tracking ID along with their Identity Card number. The app then guides them through fingerprint and facial recognition steps.
Once the Fingerprint Verification process is completed successfully, the system sends a confirmation message and redirects the applicant back to the passport web portal. Users can then complete the remaining application steps and submit their passport request online.
Officials say the new system will streamline the passport application process, reduce delays, and improve accuracy in verifying applicants’ identities. The Fingerprint Verification feature ensures secure authentication, preventing fraudulent applications and enhancing overall efficiency.
This initiative reflects the government’s efforts to modernize passport services and make them more user-friendly. Citizens can now complete a critical part of their passport application remotely without visiting physical offices, saving time and effort.
