Government Announces Significant Petrol Price Reduction Ahead of Eid

The federal government announced a reduction of Rs. 10.20 per liter in the price of petrol, a day ahead of the scheduled fortnightly review of petroleum prices. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office indicated that the premier also directed a reduction in the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 2.33 per liter.

Typically, the Ministry of Finance announces changes in petroleum prices on the 15th and last day of each month. However, this announcement was made earlier by the prime minister.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated that the new prices would take effect from midnight on June 15. The finance ministry is expected to issue a formal notification soon.

It is worth noting that during the previous review of petroleum prices, a similar announcement from the Prime Minister’s Office about a significant price cut turned out to be inaccurate.
