Google Rolls Out New Theft Protection Features for Enhanced Android Security

Key Features Explained

  1. Theft Detection Lock: This feature activates when a phone is physically taken from its user. Using AI, it detects swift motions, such as someone grabbing the phone and attempting to flee. If triggered, the device’s screen automatically locks, stopping unauthorized access.
  2. Offline Device Lock: Designed to protect users when their phones go offline, this feature locks the device if it disconnects from the internet, preventing thieves from bypassing security by disabling connectivity.
  3. Remote Lock: Users can now lock their devices remotely without needing their Google account password. With a simple security challenge, users can quickly secure their phone using a verified device and their phone number.

These features have so far been seen on devices like the Xiaomi 14T Pro and some Pixel models, as reported by Android expert Mishaal Rahman. As Google gradually rolls out these tools, more Android users can expect improved security against theft, enhancing peace of mind in public spaces.
