Thousands of users across the globe, including in Pakistan, faced disruptions on Meta-owned platforms—Facebook, Instagram, and Threads—late last night.
According to Downdetector.com, a real-time platform outage tracker, nearly 1,000 users in Pakistan reported problems with Meta services around 11 PM. WhatsApp also experienced widespread disruptions, with 2,259 complaints logged since 10:52 PM, while Instagram recorded over 1,200 reports of outages during the same period.
Frustrated users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences, with some encountering error messages such as “something went wrong.”

Meta’s Response
Meta issued a brief statement on Facebook acknowledging the issue: “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
WhatsApp also addressed the problem via X, stating: “We’re aware of some issues accessing WhatsApp. We’re actively working on a solution and starting to see a return to normal for most people. We expect things to be back to normal shortly.”
Previous Outages
This isn’t the first time Meta platforms have faced technical disruptions. Earlier this year, a similar issue caused a prolonged outage, leaving hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Instagram users unable to access services for over two hours.
These recurring outages highlight the need for robust infrastructure to ensure consistent functionality for the millions who rely on Meta’s platforms daily.
