Ghana Signs Visa-Free Agreement With Country

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]ACCRA – In a move to strengthen ties and facilitate travel, Ghana and The Bahamas have recently signed a visa waiver agreement, building on their commitment to deepen cooperation. The agreement, signed last month, aims to enhance travel opportunities by eliminating entry barriers for passport holders from both countries.

This development follows a pledge made by Ghana and The Bahamas a year ago to introduce a visa-free regime for their citizens. The visa waiver agreement covers diplomatic, official, and ordinary passport holders, allowing them to travel between the two countries without the need for a visa.

Tourists and visitors from Ghana and The Bahamas will benefit from this agreement, as they will no longer be required to obtain visas upon entry. This move is expected to facilitate smoother travel experiences, stimulate tourism, and promote cultural exchange between the two nations, fostering increased people-to-people contact.

The formal announcement of the visa waiver agreement was made through a circular issued by the government of The Bahamas to relevant stakeholders. The circular, referencing a communication from the Embassy of The Bahamas dated January 31, 2024, highlights the purpose of the waiver in addressing challenges and inconveniences faced by travelers between the two countries.

With the implementation of the visa waiver, holders of diplomatic, official, and ordinary passports from Ghana and The Bahamas now enjoy unrestricted access to each other’s countries. This marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations and sets the stage for enhanced travel and engagement.

The agreement reflects a broader trend on the African continent, where nations are increasingly adopting pro-travel policies to encourage tourism and strengthen diplomatic and economic ties. The recent announcement aligns with the global movement toward greater connectivity and cooperation, demonstrating the commitment of Ghana and The Bahamas to fostering closer relations through easier and more accessible travel.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
