Germany has announced that individuals who share, like, or comment on the slogan “From the river to the sea” on social media will be denied citizenship, according to local media reports. The slogan, which is associated with support for Palestine, has been deemed problematic under the German Interior Ministry’s new regulations.

The rule, highlighted by North German Radio and Television (NDR), states that those engaging with the slogan on social platforms will be ineligible for German citizenship. The slogan, originating in the 1960s, calls for the complete liberation of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.
This policy update coincides with the recent implementation of Germany’s dual citizenship law on June 27, marking a significant change in the country’s stance on expressions related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
