Gas Outages and Low Pressure Spark Complaints in Lahore Amid Cold Weather

As the cold weather grips Lahore, complaints regarding gas outages and low pressure have escalated, especially in densely populated and remote areas. Residents have voiced their frustration over unannounced gas shutdowns, which have caused significant inconvenience.

Rashid Inayat, General Manager of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Lahore Region, addressed the concerns, stating that the gas supply this year has been much better compared to the previous year. He noted that 90% of areas have not reported any gas outages, with only 10% of cases linked to maintenance work and the use of compressors.

Inayat explained that the improved gas supply has led to a reduction in the need for compressors, resulting in fewer disruptions. He added that only 17 connections had been temporarily disconnected due to compressor use so far, highlighting the overall improvement in gas service this year.
