A spokesperson for the French military addressed reports claiming that a Rafale fighter jet was shot down by the Pakistan Air Force during the recent conflict between Pakistan and India.
Speaking at a press briefing in Paris, the spokesperson noted that the details of the incident remain unclear and several aspects still need to be verified. “We are closely monitoring the situation regarding the Rafale’s performance and are in direct communication with our partner, India, to obtain accurate information,” he stated.
He added that the engagement reportedly involved hundreds of aircraft, and France is eager to gather insights from this combat experience.
“If the reports of the Rafale being downed are confirmed, it would be the first such incident in the aircraft’s two decades of operational service,” the spokesperson said.
