The tragic incident occurred in Barcelos province, approximately 400 km (248 miles) from the state capital, Manaus.
Governor Wilson Lima of Amazonas state expressed his condolences and sympathy for the 12 passengers and two crew members who perished in the Barcelos plane crash on Saturday. He noted that support teams had been actively assisting and supporting the affected families and friends.

The airline involved, Manaus Aerotaxi, confirmed the accident in a statement, acknowledging the ongoing investigation but refraining from providing specific details regarding casualties or injuries. They emphasized the importance of respecting the privacy of those affected during this challenging time and pledged to provide necessary updates as the investigation unfolds.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) announced that investigators from the Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) had been called in to initiate a probe into the causes of the small aircraft crash. The aircraft involved was identified as an Embraer Bandeirante with the registration PT-SOG.
Governor Lima, in an interview with O Globo newspaper, disclosed that the bodies had already been removed from the plane, and the victims were Brazilian tourists.
