This is the second time this year that the popular opposition leader has been taken into custody. Prior to his arrest, a court found him guilty in an asset concealment case and sentenced him to prison, which could result in his disqualification from politics.

Following the court’s verdict, an arrest warrant was issued, and authorities in Lahore acted swiftly to transfer him to Islamabad.

The development poses a fresh setback to Khan’s political ambitions, as he has been facing numerous legal challenges, including corruption and terrorism charges, since his removal from power in April 2022.

One notable incident was the violent protests in May, during which his followers attacked government and military establishments across the country.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
