FM Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, calling it a violation of international and humanitarian law.
The flotilla carried nearly 500 activists from several countries on more than 40 vessels. Its mission was to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Israeli forces stopped the convoy in international waters, detaining activists and preventing supplies from reaching Palestinians.
In a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, FM Ishaq Dar said Pakistan denounces Israel’s actions. He demanded the immediate release of activists and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also called for an unconditional ceasefire and an end to the blockade.
Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause. He stressed that Pakistan backs a sovereign and independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Earlier, the Foreign Office also criticized Israel’s actions. Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said the interception endangered civilian lives and was part of Israel’s continued aggression against Gaza. He emphasized that obstructing humanitarian relief violated Israel’s responsibilities under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
International criticism has grown since the incident. Human rights groups and governments have urged accountability, demanding Israel respect humanitarian law and release detained activists.
Pakistan reiterated its key demands: a permanent ceasefire, lifting of the Gaza blockade, freedom for all detained activists, and respect for human rights law.
By condemning the raid, FM Ishaq Dar made clear that Pakistan will continue to stand with Palestine. He stressed that humanitarian aid must never be blocked and that the international community must act to protect civilians in Gaza.
