A decade after Flappy Bird was removed from app stores, an organization called The Flappy Bird Foundation has announced plans to relaunch the game. Despite this, the original creator, Dong Nguyen, has clarified that he is not involved in the project.

In a recent statement, Nguyen emphasized, “I did not sell anything,” and also voiced his opposition to cryptocurrency, adding, “I also don’t support crypto.”

The foundation claims to have acquired the rights to Flappy Bird from Gametech Holdings, LLC, which they say terminated Nguyen’s trademark. Although the group’s official materials do not mention cryptocurrency, researchers have found references to the game’s integration with Solana, suggesting it could have Web 3.0 elements.

Nguyen’s comments indicate that he is not connected with this relaunch and seems to be unhappy with the direction it is taking.

Flappy Bird, a simple game with retro graphics, was initially released in 2013. It became a viral sensation and the most downloaded app on both iOS and Android. However, in February 2014, Nguyen decided to remove the app, citing the pressure and attention that came with its success.
