Naseem’s outstanding effort in the first One-Day International against New Zealand at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium played a significant role in keeping the Kiwis to 288. Even though it was the most batting-friendly surface, Naseem only allowed 29 runs to be scored in his 10 overs while also picking up two significant wickets.

With an economy rate of 2.90, he was the game’s most frugal bowler. Although he started out without taking a wicket, his outstanding opening spell kept New Zealand from taking the early lead. Later, he completed his spell on a high note by removing Rachin Ravindra and Adam Milne with his final two deliveries, capturing two wickets in a row.

By doing so, Naseem set a new record for himself by taking 20 wickets in the first six ODI games, making him the player with the most in the competition. Matt Henry, who has 19 wickets at the same point in his career, previously held the record.

Since making his ODI debut last year, Naseem Shah has enjoyed a successful run in the format. The young pacer is eager to continue this success into the 2019 ODI World Cup, which is set to take place later this year.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
