Field Marshal Orders Army’s Full Mobilisation In Flood-Hit Areas ISPR

Pakistan is facing severe monsoon floods that have caused 670 deaths and injured over 1,000 people, officials confirmed. Relief efforts are ongoing, with more than 25,000 people safely relocated so far.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said the Pakistan Army is fully mobilized in flood-affected areas. Under the orders of Field Marshal Asim Munir, the army’s rescue teams and aviation units are actively working to help victims.

So far, the army has rescued 6,903 people and provided medical aid to over 6,000 in camps. Special medical teams from the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and army battalions are deployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan. Army helicopters deliver food and medicine to remote areas where access is difficult.

According to the ISPR, engineers are working around the clock to restore damaged roads and bridges. Around 90 roads in KP have been destroyed, but repair efforts are underway. The Pakistan Army has allocated one day’s ration to flood victims as part of relief supplies.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that the government has intensified rescue operations following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directives. So far, 1,200 tents and medical teams from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) have been sent to affected zones. Power restoration is progressing rapidly in Swat, Shangla, and Bajaur.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of more heavy rains starting August 23. NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik said the floods are due to glacier melting and cloudbursts in northern Pakistan. The NDMA has dispatched additional relief supplies to five districts under the Prime Minister’s ration package.

In summary, the ISPR reports coordinated efforts by the Pakistan Army, government, and NDMA are ongoing. These agencies aim to save lives and restore infrastructure as further rain threatens the flood-hit regions.
