The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Wing launched an inquiry on Thursday into a controversial social media post by Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
On May 26, from the former Prime Minister’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, a post addressed the 1971 civil war and the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report. FIA sources revealed that Khan’s social media team, managing his account while he is imprisoned in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, shared a video with the provocative quote: “Every Pakistani should study the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report and know who the true traitor was, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

The video allegedly aimed to shift blame for Pakistan’s 1971 breakup onto General Yahya Khan, accusing the Pakistani military of severe misconduct during the conflict.
The video also featured images of current civilian and military leaders, suggesting their involvement in undermining PTI’s mandate in recent elections.
FIA sources stated that the agency plans to interrogate four senior PTI leaders about the incident.
