Islamabad, June 10 – The federal government is set to present today a Rs17,600 billion budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the National Assembly, with proposed increases in salaries and pensions for government employees and possible tax relief for salaried individuals.
A special cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at 4 pm, will finalize the budget draft ahead of its presentation. The National Assembly session, scheduled for 5 pm, will begin with a consultative meeting of parliamentary leaders convened by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to outline the budget debate strategy.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget, which is expected to be approved on June 26-27 after deliberations. According to the assembly schedule, budget debates will run from June 13 to June 21, with discussions on expenditures, grants, and the Finance Bill concluding by June 27.
