Federal and Provincial Governments Join Forces for Balochistan Peace

A high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti focused on the law and order situation in Balochistan. The officials also reviewed the return of Afghan refugees to their home country.

During the meeting, authorities were briefed on current security conditions and ongoing efforts to stop illegal activities such as hawala-hundi, extortion, and smuggling. The participants decided to deploy around 3,000 personnel from two wings of the Federal Constabulary in the first phase to help maintain peace in Balochistan.

The meeting further emphasized strengthening the role of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the province. Officials agreed to fill vacant posts with local recruits to improve efficiency. Another major decision was to enhance monitoring of anti-state activities on social media. Authorities also pledged faster action against individuals involved in spreading false propaganda against the state.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured that the federal government would provide full support to Balochistan. He highlighted plans to improve the professional capacity of local police forces. “We are fully aware of the situation in Balochistan and will assist in every possible way to ensure peace,” he said.

Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti stressed that combating terrorism is a responsibility of the entire nation, not only the security forces. He confirmed that all highways in the province remain open, and the writ of the state will be maintained at all costs. Both leaders underlined that national unity is key to defeating terrorism.
