Dr Fazeels gets Interim Bail in Money Laundering Case

The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday reinstated interim bail for Dr. Fazeela Abbasi, the celebrity dermatologist and sister of actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, in a high-profile money laundering case.

Justice Muhammad Azam Khan approved the bail against a surety of Rs100,000 and instructed Dr. Abbasi to report to the trial court for further proceedings. She appeared in court with her lawyer, Naeem Bukhari, who informed the court that Dr. Abbasi had attended three previous hearings, missed one due to a medical condition, and submitted a three-day medical certificate, which had earlier resulted in the cancellation of her bail.

Dr. Fazeela Abbasi faces serious allegations involving the deposit of Rs25 billion across 22 bank accounts in her name, funds that were subsequently transferred to the UAE and the US. Authorities have stated that the origin of these substantial sums remains unclear, prompting a detailed investigation.

Amid the ongoing controversy, Hamza Ali Abbasi publicly distanced himself from the case, stressing that his name should not be associated with the investigation. He described his sister as a highly accomplished professional and affirmed that, while he supports her as a brother, he has no involvement in her legal or professional affairs.
