The actions taken against them are currently unknown.

Previously, in Kabirwala, a town in Khanewal district, a Mepco team was assaulted by a candidate for an MPA seat and his associates after exposing his electricity pilferage. The company’s officials filed a complaint with the Saddar police station, seeking action against MPA candidate Rana Muhammad Irfan and others under anti-terrorism laws.

According to the complaint, the Mepco team inspected a meter being used by Irfan and discovered that electricity was being stolen to operate a tube well. When they attempted to remove the transformer to disconnect the electricity supply, consumers resisted and prevented the officials from disconnecting it.

Subsequently, the officials requested police assistance. While waiting for the police vehicle on the road, a group of individuals approached and physically assaulted them. During the attack, one official sustained serious injuries to his nose and arm. A video of the incident circulated on social media, showing one of the victims bleeding from the nose.

The officials’ complaint called for legal action against Rana Irfan and his associates for the assault.

These incidents occur as the government intensifies its crackdown on electricity theft nationwide.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
