European countries are planning new Iran nuclear talks to address growing concerns over Tehran’s atomic program. This marks the first serious diplomatic effort since recent U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
According to a German diplomatic source, Britain, France, and Germany, collectively known as the E3, are currently coordinating with Iran. They aim to hold the discussions within the next week.
Iran’s Tasnim news agency confirmed that Tehran is open to the negotiations. It reported that both sides are finalizing details on the timing and location of the meeting.
The talks are part of efforts to revive diplomacy and reduce tensions that have escalated over Iran’s nuclear activities. These European nations are concerned that Iran’s continued uranium enrichment could lead to the development of a nuclear weapon, a move they strongly oppose.
“Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon,” said the German official. “That is why Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are working intensively to find a diplomatic solution that is both sustainable and verifiable.”
These upcoming talks would be the first formal engagement between Europe and Iran on this issue since the latest U.S. strikes. The incident raised fears of a wider conflict and increased pressure for peaceful solutions.
The 2015 nuclear deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), aimed to limit Iran’s nuclear capabilities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, that agreement has largely fallen apart since the U.S. withdrawal in 2018.
European powers are now trying to prevent further escalation and bring Iran back into compliance with its previous commitments. The outcome of these new negotiations could impact broader Middle East stability and future international relations.
If successful, the fresh round of Iran nuclear talks could help de-escalate rising tensions and open the door for broader diplomatic engagement.
