Religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza has been released from Adiala Jail following the approval of his bail by the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court.
A blasphemy case had been filed against him in Jhelum, after which he approached the Rawalpindi Bench seeking bail. His petition was taken up on Wednesday, December 3, where Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan heard the arguments presented by his lawyer, Tahir Ayubi. During the hearing, Ayubi argued that the accusations were baseless and that the case required a fair review. After listening to the arguments, the court accepted his bail plea.
The court granted bail on the condition that Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza submit two surety bonds of Rs 500,000 each. Following the submission of the surety bonds, the authorities completed the necessary legal formalities for his release.
Two days after the court verdict, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was officially released from Adiala Jail. His supporters and followers had been closely monitoring the case, as he is known for his outspoken views on religious matters, which have often sparked debate and controversy.
The approval of bail marks a significant development in the case, allowing him temporary relief while the legal process continues. The court’s decision means he will remain free during the ongoing proceedings, provided he complies with the conditions set by the bench.
With his release, discussions regarding the nature of the charges and the broader implications of the case are likely to continue. For now, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza is back home after fulfilling the court’s requirements, awaiting the next steps in the legal process.
