Eleven Fatalities, Including Women and Children, in Kurram Clashes

KURRAM: Clashes between two tribes in Upper Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have resulted in at least 11 fatalities, including women and children. Additionally, six individuals sustained injuries during the violent encounters.

Previously, in Lower Kurram district, a firing incident related to a land dispute left seven people dead last month. Efforts by the police are underway to establish a ceasefire between the conflicting groups to prevent further violence.

In a separate operation, security forces killed seven militants, referred to as khawarij, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kurram district, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military indicated that these militants had been involved in multiple attacks against both security personnel and civilians.

The ISPR stated that during the operation, troops effectively engaged the militants’ positions, resulting in the deaths of seven terrorists from the group known as Fitna Al Khawarij. Five additional khawarij were reported injured, while their hideouts were destroyed and a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was seized.
