ECP Releases Final 2024 Election Party Standings

In Islamabad, the Election Commission of Pakistan unveiled the comprehensive results of the 2024 General Election, marked by significant success for independent candidates amidst allegations of irregularities, mismanagement, and rigging. The electoral watchdog’s announcement revealed that independent candidates, supported by the PTI, secured 101 seats, with PML-N securing the runner-up position with 75 seats, and PPP securing 54 seats.

The margin between PTI-backed members and seats won by PML-N and PPP narrowed as the final results were disclosed after 65 hours of polling. In specific regions like Karachi and other parts of Sindh, MQM-Pakistan secured 17 NA seats, while Fazl’s JUI-F won four seats, and Ch. Shujaat’s PML-Q secured at least 3 seats.

Following delayed elections and unexpected outcomes, protests erupted in various parts of Pakistan as multiple political parties contested the declared results, alleging widespread rigging. PPP, JUI-F, and BAP organized sit-ins, calling for recounts and challenging the announced outcomes.

In Karachi, Jamaat-e-Islami, JUI, and PTI collectively staged a protest outside the Election Commission office in response to the perceived discrepancies in the election results.
