Dollar Will Settle at Its ‘Real Value’ of Rs. 250: Ishaq Dar.

The finance minister told Samaa News that the US dollar will settle near the genuine effective exchange rate. According to him, Bloomberg calculated in a May story that the real effective exchange rate of the US dollar is around Rs. 244.

The minister noted that when he predicted last year that the US dollar would go below Rs. 200, the real effective exchange rate was around Rs. 197.

Dar went on to claim that without government involvement, the Pakistani rupee will appreciate against the US dollar. He also stated that the rate of the US Dollar in the grey market has significantly decreased, implying that the Pakistani Rupee will rise more in the coming weeks.

It is worth noting that the Pakistani Rupee gained significantly versus the US Dollar in the interbank market today, rising by 3.83 percent. The currency closed at 275.44, up Rs. 10.55 from the previous day.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
