Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), will hold a press conference today (Monday) at 3 PM at the General Headquarters to address the nation’s security situation.

The conference comes in the wake of rising terrorism in Pakistan and will focus on the army’s role in countering these threats. The DG ISPR’s previous briefing on July 22 covered various topics, including Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, digital terrorism, and the army’s stance on recent protests and conflicts.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry clarified that Operation Azm-e-Istehkam is a counter-terrorism initiative rather than a military operation, and criticized efforts to politicize it. He stressed that it is not comparable to past military operations like Zarb-e-Azb and mentioned that a strong lobby is working against the success of the National Action Plan. The operation aims to sever connections between terrorism and crime, including smuggling and illicit properties.

Chaudhry also addressed concerns about digital terrorism, warning that misinformation campaigns on social media target the military and its leadership. He compared these digital terrorists to physical ones, noting their role in spreading false information to destabilize the country.

Regarding recent protests, such as the TLP sit-in at Faizabad, Chaudhry dismissed rumors of military involvement and emphasized that both the military and government are focused on peaceful resolutions. He also discussed the Chaman border sit-in, which was resolved by agreeing to documentation for cross-border movement and criticized the illegal trade at the Afghan border.
