Eleven members of a family, including women and children, tragically drowned in Kohat after torrential rains flooded their basement in the Old Bazid Khel area of Dara Adam Khel. The severe rainfall inundated the area, trapping the family in the basement of Amjad’s house. Rescue teams responded promptly, recovering the 11 bodies and initially searching for a missing girl, who was later found.

The heavy rains have caused widespread flooding across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, affecting regions like Peshawar and Swabi. In Swabi, the torrential downpour damaged crops such as tobacco and maize, and disrupted the electricity supply due to multiple feeder failures. Additionally, in Kotha village, the roof of a livestock shed collapsed, trapping two bulls, which were subsequently rescued by emergency teams.

The monsoon rain pattern is expected to continue until July 31, with more rainfall forecasted for most districts in Punjab.

Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives. The situation remains critical as authorities and rescue teams work to manage the impacts of the ongoing heavy rains.
