Decision in £190 Million Case Involving Imran Khan Postponed Again

The accountability court has once again postponed the decision on the £190 million reference involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The new verdict date has been set for 13 January, following the leave of Judge Nasir Javed Rana, according to Express News. The ruling was initially expected on Monday, but the court staff informed Khan’s legal counsel, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, of the judge’s absence.

The hearing, originally scheduled to take place at Adiala Jail, was moved to NAB Court G-11 due to logistical difficulties in securing the presence of the defendants.

In related developments, hearings for 13 other cases, including the GHQ attack and incidents on 9 May, have been adjourned to 8 January due to the absence of Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who is currently undergoing training. All accused were granted exemption from attendance for the day.

Details of the £190 Million Case

The case revolves around allegations that Imran Khan and others misappropriated Rs50 billion—equivalent to £190 million at the time—that had been transferred by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government. As Prime Minister, Khan secured cabinet approval for the settlement on 3 December 2019 without revealing the confidential details of the agreement. The settlement specified that the funds were to be deposited into the Supreme Court.

NAB officials claim that Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, acquired land worth billions of rupees under the guise of constructing an educational institute, in connection with this case.
