CM Maryam Orders Immediate Cut in Roti Prices Across Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday instructed authorities to lower the price of roti throughout the province, following a recent decrease in flour prices.

During a high-level meeting on commodity prices, the Punjab CM directed the Price Control Department to promptly revise roti rates, ensuring that the reduced cost of flour directly benefits the general public without delay.

“The new bread price must reflect the decline in flour costs,” she stated. “I want roti to become more affordable for every household, and this price reduction should reach the people immediately.”

Maryam Nawaz pledged to bring the price of bread to “the lowest level in history,” stressing that food inflation hits poor communities hardest and requires urgent action.

She also called on officials to closely monitor the prices of essential food items, including chicken, vegetables, and pulses.

Highlighting concerns about rising poultry prices, the chief minister said, “The poor child used to have chicken once a week. If chicken becomes unaffordable, the poor will lose even that — and I will not tolerate it.”

Authorities were further ordered to strengthen market surveillance and take strict measures against hoarders and profiteers.

Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her government’s commitment to shielding vulnerable groups from the impact of soaring food inflation.
