Garcia stressed the significance of strengthening relations, especially in the tourism sector.

This visa-free policy follows Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero’s visit to China, during which he expressed eagerness for an increase in Chinese tourists.Cuba, reliant on tourism as a vital economic driver, anticipates hosting over 3.5 million international visitors in 2024.

China is actively pursuing visa-free agreements with several countries. Earlier this year, it established a permanent visa-free arrangement with Thailand. China already has such agreements with countries like Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg. These efforts aim to offset the economic impact of pandemic-related restrictions.
