Saudi Arabia has introduced new conditions for issuing final exit visas to domestic workers during probation.
The new service allows eligible domestic workers to leave the country during their 90-day probation period. They can apply even without receiving a residency permit.
The General Directorate of Passports announced the facility through the Absher electronic platform. Eligible employers can complete the final exit process online.
The service applies to domestic workers who are still within their probationary period. The rules also specify several conditions for issuing the visa.
The domestic worker must be physically present inside Saudi Arabia when the final exit visa is issued. The worker must also have a valid employment status.
According to the requirements, the worker must not be registered as deceased. The worker must also not be reported as absent from work.
Another condition concerns traffic violations. The domestic worker must have no outstanding traffic violations before the final exit visa can be issued.
The worker must also hold a passport with at least 60 days of remaining validity. These requirements must be met before the electronic process can proceed.
The new arrangement is linked to rules governing domestic employment contracts. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development allows contracts to include probation periods.
Under these regulations, employers and domestic workers must sign a written employment agreement. The contract may include a probationary period of up to 90 days.
The probation period gives employers an opportunity to evaluate a worker’s professional abilities. It also allows them to assess the worker’s conduct during employment.
The rules provide rights to both parties during the probation period. Employers and domestic workers can terminate the employment contract unilaterally during this period.
This means the employment relationship can end before the probation period is completed. The new final exit service provides a formal process for eligible workers.
Saudi Arabia has also placed restrictions on repeated probation periods. A domestic worker cannot normally undergo probation more than once with the same employer.
There is an exception when both parties agree to a different job assignment. The new position must differ from the work covered under the original probation period.
The electronic final exit facility can simplify procedures for eligible domestic workers. It also provides employers with an online method for completing exit requirements.
The conditions are intended to ensure that workers meet immigration and employment requirements. Applicants must satisfy all relevant conditions before the final exit visa is issued.
