China Considers Reviving Visa-Free Entry For Asian Nation

BEIJING – The Chinese government is currently examining the feasibility of reinstating visa-free entry for Japanese citizens, a perk that was suspended in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a recent announcement, China’s foreign ministry expressed its intention to thoroughly consider the resumption of the prior visa-free arrangement for Japanese travelers visiting China.

Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, conveyed that the country is committed to seriously deliberating upon the proposal. He also took the opportunity to urge Japan to collaborate with Beijing in streamlining cross-border travel between the two nations.

Prior to the global pandemic, Japanese citizens enjoyed the convenience of visa-free entry, entitling them to a 14-day stay in China. However, this privilege has not been reinstated since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis.
