Another helicopter crash in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district has sparked renewed demands for stricter aviation safety after six people, including a child and the pilot, lost their lives. The helicopter, en route from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi, lost contact mid-flight before crashing in a remote mountainous area. Locals discovered the wreckage and alerted authorities, prompting immediate rescue efforts.
Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, ordering intensified relief operations and a thorough investigation by the state’s aviation authority. He also directed the formulation of a strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for helicopter operations, emphasizing technical inspections and real-time weather monitoring to prevent future mishaps.

This marks the third helicopter accident in Uttarakhand in recent months, following fatal crashes in May and June. The tragedy comes amid heightened concern over India’s air safety, especially after a recent Air India crash that claimed 270 lives.
