Despite a directive from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the price of chicken meat in Lahore has only slightly decreased by Rs6, now costing Rs599 per kilogram.
Over the last month, chicken prices have surged by Rs222 per kg, increasing from Rs377 on June 25 to the current price of Rs599. Citizens have expressed strong demands for a reduction in broiler chicken prices, which have been affected by the rising costs of poultry feed and petroleum products.
Multan:
In Multan, the price of chicken has sharply risen within a week, jumping from Rs450 to Rs560 per kg. This increase is due to higher feed and fuel costs, making chicken less affordable for the average consumer. Local residents are calling for actions to reduce the price of chicken, as the current rates are straining household budgets.

Faisalabad:
In Faisalabad, the local administration has struggled to enforce the official chicken price. Despite the Chief Minister’s notice, chicken prices have only decreased by Rs5, with the market rate remaining at Rs630 per kg compared to the official rate of Rs600 per kg. Citizens in Faisalabad are demanding stricter enforcement of official prices to counter the “chicken mafia” controlling the market.
Sialkot:
In Sialkot, chicken meat is being sold at prices ranging from Rs680 to Rs700 per kg, much higher than the official rate of Rs599 per kg. These high prices have made chicken meat unaffordable for many people, and there are increasing calls for the administration to take decisive action against the price gouging by the chicken mafia.
