According to the Associated Press, the order was issued by Interior Minister Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, and the royal decree took effect on Monday. He emphasized that Islam advocates for the preservation of public health, highlighting the religious and moral underpinnings of the ban.
A Significant Step in Anti-Smoking Campaign
This initiative marks a significant escalation in the kingdom’s ongoing anti-smoking campaign. Previously, smoking was banned in airports, and this latest measure is part of a broader effort to enhance public health and reduce tobacco use among the population.
The implementation of this ban is expected to foster a healthier environment for residents and visitors alike, as the kingdom continues to strengthen its health regulations in line with Islamic values.
