CDA Seals 30 Unauthorized Buildings in Islamabad Housing Society

The Capital Development Authority (CDA), in collaboration with the Islamabad administration and police, has initiated a large-scale operation against illegal constructions in housing societies throughout the capital.

In the first phase of the operation, approximately 30 shops and residential units were sealed in the Pak PWD Employees Cooperative Housing Society located in Lohi Bher Zone-V.

The action comes in response to longstanding violations in the area, where parks and playgrounds were reportedly converted into multi-storey commercial plazas, in clear violation of the approved layout plan.

The operation was carried out under the directives of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

According to CDA officials, the crackdown is part of a broader initiative to implement building regulations in accordance with the CDA Ordinance, 1960, and the updated Building Control Regulations, 2020, as amended in 2023.

Authorities revealed that the sealed properties lacked approved building plans, were being used for commercial purposes without authorization, and had neither obtained completion certificates nor paid the required penalties.

The CDA has issued a warning that stricter actions will be taken against repeat offenders. Residents and developers have been advised to obtain proper approvals before undertaking any construction within the Islamabad Capital Territory.
