CDA Razes Section Of PTI’s Headquarters In Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) sealed and demolished “unauthorized structures” at the Central Secretariat of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad.

A CDA team, accompanied by a sizable police force, conducted an operation late Thursday to remove encroachments and unauthorized constructions at the PTI headquarters. CDA officials revealed that an additional floor had been constructed in violation of building regulations.

During the operation, a portion of the PTI Central Secretariat was demolished, leading PTI leaders, including party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, to rush to the site.

CDA officials stated that the plot in Sector G-8/4 had been encroached upon, and unauthorized constructions had been erected. Originally allotted to an individual named Sartaj Ali, PTI allegedly acquired the land and built on it unlawfully.

Despite multiple warnings and notices, the plot’s owner continued to violate regulations. Notices were issued on November 19, 2020, February 22, 2021, and June 14, 2022, followed by a show-cause notice on September 4, 2023. As there was no compliance, the property was sealed on May 10, 2024.

The CDA spokesperson affirmed that the crackdown on encroachments and illegal constructions would persist citywide.

During the raid, PTI leader Aamir Mughal was arrested, prompting Barrister Gohar to instruct party workers to remain peaceful.

PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub criticized the operation’s timing and compared it to actions in Gaza, emphasizing the need for constructive dialogue. He condemned the action and vowed to raise the issue in the National Assembly.
