The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has begun efforts to address potential traffic congestion at the F-10 roundabout, also known as McDonald Chowk, in anticipation of the completion of the ongoing Jinnah Avenue flyover project in Sector F-8.
The Jinnah Avenue project is designed to alleviate traffic at a key location, but there were concerns that it could cause traffic bottlenecks at the nearby F-10 roundabout. To mitigate these concerns, the CDA has initiated a remodeling plan for the roundabout. Nespak, the consultant firm, has proposed a design that includes “fish belly” U-turns on Jinnah Avenue and Nazimuddin Road, along with the removal of the roundabout to directly connect both roads.

To address safety concerns regarding high-speed traffic on Jinnah Avenue, CDA officials clarified that the U-turns will be spaced 500 meters apart, providing ample distance for motorists to safely adjust lanes.
Although there were initial calls for an underpass at the F-10 roundabout, the CDA decided that U-turns would be a more practical and cost-effective solution. Under the terms of the contract, the contractor is allowed to carry out up to 15% additional work, and savings from modifying the underpass design on Jinnah Avenue will be allocated to fund the F-10 roundabout remodeling.
The Jinnah Avenue project, which was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, consists of two main parts: an underpass for traffic traveling from F-10 to Blue Area, partially completed last month, and a flyover for traffic moving from F-8 to F-10, which is still under construction. CDA officials are optimistic that the project will be completed within the targeted 100-day timeframe.
Work on dismantling the F-10 roundabout has already commenced.
