Arrival in Mansehra and Press Conference Plans
Reports suggest Bushra Bibi and Gandapur were in Islamabad’s Blue Area near Kulsoom Plaza when law enforcement began operations against PTI demonstrators late at night. In response to the escalating situation, they left the area and traveled to KP.
The PTI leadership has announced a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. today, to be held at the residence of Provincial Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati, located at the Insaf Secretariat in Mansehra.
Government’s Efforts to Detain Leaders
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed ongoing efforts to locate and detain Bushra Bibi and Gandapur, with authorities actively pursuing leads on their whereabouts.
Mass Arrests and Crackdown on Protesters
The Islamabad police have reported the arrest of over 400 individuals accused of vandalism, stone-pelting, and damaging public property during the protests. Across Punjab, the number of arrests has exceeded 800, according to official statements.
Authorities recovered weapons, ammunition, wireless communication devices, and other equipment from those detained. Police claim the confiscated items were intended for violent activities aimed at disrupting public order.
Heightened Security Measures
In response to the protests, security forces, including Rangers and army personnel, have been deployed to key areas in Islamabad. The Attock Bridge, a critical link between Punjab and KP, has been sealed with containers, restricting movement between the provinces. These measures reflect the government’s determination to maintain order amid the unrest.
