Bumrah, Mandhana Shine Bright in Wisden's 2025 Honours

India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah and batting star Smriti Mandhana have been named the top male and female cricketers in the world in the 2025 edition of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack. The recognition comes after both players delivered outstanding performances across formats in the 2024 season.

Bumrah had a remarkable year, taking 71 Test wickets at an average of under 15, and played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph, where he was named Player of the Tournament. He was particularly dominant during India’s Test tour of Australia, claiming 32 wickets at just 13 apiece, prompting Wisden to hail him as potentially one of the greatest bowlers of all time.

Mandhana, meanwhile, made history by scoring 1,659 international runs in 2024 — the highest by any female cricketer in a calendar year. Her consistency and flair across formats earned her the title of Leading Women’s Cricketer in the World.

Wisden also named West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran as the Leading T20 Cricketer and included England’s Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith, Sophie Ecclestone, along with Hampshire’s Liam Dawson and Surrey’s Dan Worrall among its Five Cricketers of the Year.
