Matric Exams 2026 BSEK Clarifies Rules on Burqa for Female Students

The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has issued new instructions for exam centers during the ongoing Matric Exams. The directives aim to ensure smooth conduct and address concerns raised by students and parents.

BSEK Chairman Ghulam Hussain confirmed that no complaints of cheating involving female students have been reported so far. He stated that female candidates will not be required to remove their burqas or abayas during the Matric Exams. This decision was made to respect privacy while maintaining exam discipline.

The chairman also issued a strict warning regarding student rights. He said any complaint about forcing female students to remove veils will result in immediate action. In addition, BSEK has directed that male invigilators must not be assigned to female exam centers. This step is intended to create a comfortable and secure environment for candidates.

The annual Matric Exams under the Karachi board started last week. However, several issues have been reported at different exam centers. Many students faced difficulties due to a lack of basic facilities. These included the absence of fans in classrooms during hot weather conditions.

At Malir Government Boys Secondary School, students were seen taking exams in extreme heat. There were no proper cooling arrangements, which made conditions uncomfortable. Parents and students have raised concerns about the overall management of exam centers.

Another issue that emerged during the Matric Exams was related to exam security. Reports claimed that the Computer Studies paper for the morning shift was leaked. This has raised serious questions about the board’s ability to ensure fair examinations.

Officials have not yet provided full details about the reported paper leak. However, such incidents can impact student confidence and the credibility of the exam process. Education experts stress the need for stronger monitoring systems.

Despite these challenges, BSEK has assured that efforts are being made to improve conditions. Authorities say they are working to address facility issues and ensure transparency. The board has also urged students to remain focused on their exams.
