Bride Files for Divorce After Groom Calls Her Donkey at Wedding

In a rare case from Egypt, a bride named Rania filed for divorce after being publicly insulted by her husband during their wedding. Rania, a 30-year-old with a doctorate, married 33-year-old doctor Ali based on his education, but soon realized his true character.

The incident occurred when Rania slipped and fell at the ceremony. As she was getting up, Ali insulted her in front of the guests, calling her a “donkey.” Humiliated, Rania immediately decided to pursue legal action.

In her court statement, Rania explained that her husband had shouted, “Get up, donkey,” in front of everyone, which led to a confrontation between her brother and Ali. The families clashed, and Rania left the wedding, returning to her parents’ home instead of her in-laws’.

Ali tried to reconcile a few days later, but Rania’s family refused. After he rejected her demand for a divorce, she filed for legal separation. The case has since sparked debates about respect and dignity in marriage, especially regarding public humiliation.
