[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Brendon McCullum, England’s Test head coach, is in hot water because the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is investigating whether he violated anti-corruption rules by promoting a betting website, 22Bet India.

The ECB stated that it is investigating the matter and is speaking with McCullum about it after advertisements on YouTube and posts on his social media feeds raised concerns about his relationship with the Cyprus-registered company.

The anti-corruption code of the European Central Bank prohibits players and officials from directly or indirectly encouraging parties to place bets on matches or competitions.

The Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand filed a complaint with the country’s Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), which confirmed that 22Bet’s advertisements are deceptive because they are not a registered New Zealand sports bookmaker and are not licenced or regulated by the DIA. As a result, the advertisements for users in the country have been geo-blocked.

McCullum’s agent, Simon Auteri, stated, “We are speaking with the ECB about this.” I’m not going to make any comments. “We’re working on it.”

McCullum’s highly successful tenure as England’s Test head coach has earned him worldwide acclaim. Under the leadership of Ben Stokes, ‘Bazball,’ as it is now known, has led the English side to 10 wins out of 12 matches so far.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
