Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has surrendered to authorities in connection with a cheque bounce case after failing to meet court-ordered payment obligations.
According to Indian media reports, the popular comedy star faced legal trouble after he did not pay the agreed settlement amount in a cheque dishonour matter. The case relates to multiple financial disputes in which issued cheques were reportedly returned due to insufficient funds, leading to legal proceedings against him.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court withdrew the relief that had previously been granted to the actor in several cheque bounce cases. The court directed Yadav to present himself before the concerned jail authorities by a specified deadline. Judges made it clear that no further extensions would be provided and instructed him to surrender before the jail superintendent by February 4.
Following the court’s order, the actor complied and turned himself in at Tihar Jail within the given timeframe. Officials confirmed that he respected the directive and surrendered as instructed.
Reports also stated that Yadav’s legal team had appealed to the court for some relaxation regarding the payment. His lawyer requested additional time to arrange the settlement amount and sought a one-week extension to clear dues totaling Rs50 million. However, the court declined the request, refusing to grant further leniency and maintaining its earlier order.
